STEM Lab: South Africa Love Quilt Project

The Freedom Hill fifth graders made quilt squares this week for the South Africa Love Quilt Project. The activity was part of the fifth grade Global Awareness Unit. The students learned about the people, the history, and geography of South Africa during a short presentation. The theme of the squares was support for South African orphans who currently number around 2 million. The squares will be incorporated into quilts which will sent to South Africa and given to children as part of the ceremony marking their first day of school.
