Thank you to EVERYONE who participated in our fun, family friendly 5K Fun Run this weekend. We had great weather, a great turnout, loads of fun, and plenty of exercise. A very special thanks to the Nahigian Family (and this includes the extended Nahigian Family) for all of their hard work in putting on this successful school event. We are very fortunate to have a lot of activities at our school but it does not happen without the volunteer efforts of families such as their’s. Thanks to all of you who step up to support our school and children! Congratulations to Ms. Nussbaum’s 2nd grade class who had the most students participate. They will be rewarded for their strong turnout. We are also thankful to the community businesses who supported this event: Fitness Together, OrangeTheoryFitness, and RoadID.
We have an easy end of year fundraiser for the school as well as a way to thank your favorite teachers. Target will donate $25 to a teacher’s school for each thank you that a teacher receives. All you have to do is go to the Target facebook page or special website and thank your teacher and target will make a donation. Please read below for further information and instructions on this very easy school fundraiser and teacher appreciation event.
|Barnes & Noble will be hosting a book fair for FHES on Friday, May 29 from 5-9PM at the Barnes and Noble store in Tysons. Twenty percent (20%) of proceeds from your purchases that evening will be given to FHES. This is a big opportunity to show support for our school, so please mark the date on your calendar. We will have face painting, bookmark making, the Freedom Hill Singers performing, and our very own teachers reading stories to the kids. It’s the perfect time to buy those summer reading books. Tell your friends, family, and neighbors and post on your social media accounts so that everyone knows.|
FHES staff is planning a carwash this month to raise some needed funds to keep the school’s technology up to date. Please read below for more details on how you can participate and support their efforts.
Don’t forget to purchase your gift cards if you are looking for end of the year teacher gifts. Read below for more details.
We can’t say good-bye to our school year without acknowledging those members of our Freedom Hill community (in particular, Dianne Gurdak and Holly Day) who will be moving on. As a retiring staff member or a “retiring” parent, please join us for our final PTA meeting on Wednesday, June 3rd at 7:00pm in the library. We will also announce and honor our Harriett Best PTA Volunteer of the Year and vote on the above slate. Please help us make this a special event by attending. Don’t miss the opportunity to bid our leaving parents and staff farewell.
Remember, this coming Monday is a school holiday. So enjoy your long weekend!
President, FHES PTA
