Elementary Magnet School Information Nights to Be Held February 5, 6, and 8; Online Application Opens on March 1

Fairfax County Public Schools will be accepting applications for its elementary magnet school programs beginning Thursday, March 1. Bailey’s Primary School for the Arts and Sciences will accept lottery applications for students who will be in grades K-2 during the 2018-19 school year; Bailey’s Upper School for the Arts and Sciences for students in grades 3 and 4. Hunters Woods Elementary School for the Arts and Sciences will accept lottery applications for students who will enter grades K-5 during the 2018-19 school year. Selection for available magnet school spaces is based on a lottery. Registration for the elementary magnet school lottery closes on Monday, April 2.

Parents are strongly encouraged to attend school based information nights on Monday, February 5 (Bailey’s Primary), Tuesday, February 6 (Hunters Woods), and Thursday, February 8 (Bailey’s Upper). These information nights will provide the opportunity to learn about individual school programs, student eligibility, the lottery process, the new one-time $100 pupil placement application fee for students accepting invitations to magnet schools from out of boundary, and available transportation.
