A message from Amy Morton, Instructional Coach:

Calling all volunteers!  We need 200 rekenreks created for our kindergarten and first grade classes to use during number talks in math. What is a rekenrek?  A rekenrek is composed of 2 strings of beads.  Young children use them to develop number concepts.  Rekenreks are easy to put together.  We would like parent volunteers to come in any time during the day (9am-4pm) on Friday, December 20.  Do you have an extra hour or two to spare that day?  If so, come up to Freedom Hill, sign in, and report to the upstairs art room to help construct the rekenreks.  You can come up at any point during the day and stay for as long as you are able.  Any and all help is appreciated.  If you are able to volunteer, please email our instructional coach at aemorton1@fcps.edu so we have an idea of how many volunteers we will have.
