Dear FHES families,
We are bringing two National Competitions to Freedom Hill ES students this November:
1. The National Spelling Bee, sponsored by the Scripps National Spelling Bee, is open to all kids in grades 1 and above. At Freedom Hill, we plan to select the top two spellers in each grade classroom after mid-November. See this flyer @ FHES-SPELLING-BEE-LETTER for details. The recommended word list for this initial qualifying round can be found @ 2015 School Spelling Bee Study List – 2 pagerWithMarkup. Winners go on to the school-wide Bee in February.
2. The National Geography Bee is hosted by the National Geographic Society, and is open to kids in grades 4 and above. Interested Freedom Hill ES students can signup via http://www.p4sso.com. The qualifying round will be held on November 25th in the school cafeteria. The top 10 finishers go on to the school-wide finals in January. More details can be found in this flyer @ Geo-BEE-LETTER.
