FHES Garden: Problem Solvers on Site!

Blog by Mr. Misch, AART & STEM Lab Coordinator:

Fourth graders spent time with the new raised beds in the garden this week. We have a problem, we need to fill the beds with topsoil, and we don’t know the amount of soil that we will need. The students decided that in order to solve this problem, they needed to have yard sticks, pencil, and paper. Also, they decided they needed to learn how to calculate the volume of a rectangular prism. Stay tuned for how much topsoil we think we will need for the raised beds.
