Freedom Hill hosted it’s National Geographic Bee Wednesday, January 11th, with ten participants from grades 4-6 who had the highest qualifying scores on a preliminary exam. After rousing rounds of competition questions concerning states, countries, landmarks, and more, the field was narrowed to two students vying for the championship. This year’s winner is 5th grade student Karthik Thyagarajan. In second place is 6th grader Bhaskar Patke. 5th grader Rishi Vanka captured third place. In the coming weeks, Karthik will take an online test to see if he qualifies to represent our school in the national competition. Congratulations and good luck, Karthik!
The National Geographic Bee is an annual competition organized by the National Geographic Society, designed to inspire and reward students’ curiosity about the world. Each year, thousands of schools across the United States participate in the National Geographic Bee, competing for college scholarships and the glory of being the National Geographic Bee Champion.
Congratulations to these geographers for their great performance in the competition!
