The 2017 Freedom Hill National Geography Bee finals was held on Wednesday, January 11th, 2017. The top 10 students from grades 4-6 who cleared the qualification hurdles went head-to-head for 10 rounds, and Karthik Thyagarajan from Grade 5 (Mrs. Nowak) emerged the school champion at the end.  Bhaskar Phatke (Grade 6 – Ms. Angle) and Rishi Vanka (Grade 5 – Mrs. Nowak) finished in 2nd and 3rd place respectively.   Kudos to the winners and the other participants. We also want to express our thanks to our parent volunteer, Thyaga Nandagopal, and our school librarian, Ms. Katherine Trott, who was the judge for the event and the school coordinator for the National Geography Bee.
